Flanders Candlelight and Wine Art Lecture with Banjie Getsinger Nicholas

Artist Banjie Getsinger Nicholas will demonstrate and discuss her
process of depicting the natural world in egg tempera and silverpoint. Both
mediums have roots dating back to ancient times but the process employed
remains largely unchanged. Banjie will display and discuss her work and will
demonstrate some of her methods including creating egg tempera from egg yolks.

Banjie studied at the New York
Botanical Garden and
received certificates in both Botanical and Natural Science Illustration. She
taught Botanical Painting and Drawing at Washington Art Association for seven
years in a class that evolved to become The Naturalist’s Studio. She has given
silverpoint and egg tempera workshops and demonstrations throughout the
Northeast. In 2012 she published a book on silverpoint drawing titled “Silver
Linings: An Introduction to Silverpoint Drawing.” Her work will be shown at the
Bellamy-Ferriday House and Garden in Bethlehem
from September 5 through October 27.
