Grassy Hill Road Reopens

The temporary bridge is safe for vehicles but there are precautions, according to Woodbury First Selectman Gerald 'Jerry' Stomski.

 

After being closed for two weeks due to a , Grassy Hill Road in Woodbury is open again.

"As of late Saturday afternoon, Grassy Hill Road is open to through traffic across a ," Woodbury First Selectman Gerald 'Jerry' Stomski said in a Saturday, August 25, press release.

Until the smooths over the entrances of the bridge on Monday, August 27, Stomski asked drivers to use caution and enter the bridge slowly.

"Until then, the bridge is rated for 75,000 lbs.," he said, adding that the bridge can handle fire trucks, school buses, other trucks and other pedestrian vehicles.

"The highway workers should once again be commended for their outstanding efforts on behalf of or town in getting this bridge erected and the road opened for our residents," said Stomski.

Future Plans

Stomski estimated the new concrete bridge culvert will be ready for installation in approximately three weeks.

"When readied, the road will be temporarily closed, the bridge disassembled and the new crossing installed," said Stomski. "The town will notify residents prior to the installation of the new culvert."
