You may have seen Frances Chamberlain around town before. She's a veteran journalist, most recently Managing Editor of The Heritage Village News. Although she returned to teaching college freshmen how to write a few years ago, she finds she can't stay away from community journalism.

Her credits, prior to The Heritage Villager, included The New York Times, Connecticut Magazine, The Litchfield County Times, The Waterbury Republican and a variety of regional and national publications. She has also co-authored four scientific books.

Long before her work in Connecticut she was editor of The Mirror-Democrat in Mt. Carroll, Ill., and a freelancer for The Rockford Morning Star and The Freeport Journal, both in Illinois.

She graduated from Shimer College in Mt. Carroll, Ill, and then, later, from Wesleyan University in Middletown, Conn., with a Master of Arts in Liberal Studies.

She raised three daughters and now glories in the antics of her seven grandchildren.

Her varied background leads her to be interested in stories about kids and grandparents, and everyone in between, history, politics, the environment, and generally all the stuff that goes on in small town America!
