He stopped meetings for months to keep me from asking questions.
Here are the questions I have asked on political signs:
1. Where is our legal authority to regulate political signs? It must be explicitly granted in state statutes. Overton and Bob Clarke have not furnished this information.
2. Overton again played games with the third legal opinion on political signs. He "claimed" he had not reviewed it. He "claimed" he did not know he received it. It was mailed out on Thursday and received by the commissioners on Friday.
Overton refused to take a few minutes to read it so the Commission can do its job. Yet, in the same meeting, he read on the spot a cease and desist letter. Overton again at his worst.
3. The legal opinion just obtained discusses the issues with relating to the CT Constitution.
I have already researched this answer.
1. The CT Constitution offers stronger protections for free speech. Our Constitution trumps the US Constitution.
2. There is no case law on challenging the CT Constitution because it is quite clear what is said. So if Woodbury insists on regulating political signs, the only remedy is to sue someone and take it to court.
3. Martin Overton has decided he has the right to regulate political speech and he and Zoning do not.
There are no state statutes granting the authority to do so. Statutes in 7-148 and 8-2 cover what towns and cities can do and the second cover what land use boards can do. It is not anywhere there.
The real disgrace here is that the commission has not done its homework AGAIN.
The current proposed changes have already been slammed by a regional body called the Council of Governments and for good reason.
Overton actually tried to vote the newest restrictions into law without even running them by the town attorney. Overton does not want the people of Woodbury to see the current legal opinion because if written properly, would admonish Overton and his enabler Bob Clarke.
This issue is black and white. The current regulations on political signs are unconstitutional. They restrict political signs more than commercial signs. On that alone, they need to be removed.
Overton has tried over and over again to ram through more regulations and has been stopped.
Woodbury residents must ask why Zoning Commissioners have clearly ignored legal opinions, furnished case law, and testimony at public hearings.
Why also has Overton been allowed to stay chairman after all the actions, not limited to abuse over political signs?
Why did the full members, of which I am not one of, vote Overton back into the chairmanship in January and then give him a vote of confidence in March?

Oh and if you can't make a marguarita behind the bar ..then get out from behind there .. don't blame your employees for your own short comings which I might add are many. I hope Gordon rips this place apart. I received a salad without dressing. The drinks were only good when the bartenders made them not when you made them. This place has really gone down hill.

Comparing the Bullet size used in Newtown, .223 (or 5.56MM) to that of a .308 (or 7.62MM) round used for deer and bigger game, usually in a rifle chambered for 30.06. (checkout pic in link below)

you'll see the .223 round (like used in Newtown) on the right, .308 (Like used for hunting deer and other big game) on the Left. so you see, Hunting anything other than rabbit, squirrel and small varmint like fox or Coyote, a gun like the AR would be great. Hunting Big game with it, you'd better be a seriously great shooter or have a few 30 round mags with ya! Target shooting, varmint shooting, and property protection is what its most useful for.. that said, they are just really nice guns and really fun to shoot and you know, it could have been a .17 or .22 that Lanza used to kill those kids, we are talking 5 to 7 year olds, it wouldn't take much.
