Voters have weighed in all week long but there's still time to vote. Read on to see which Middlebury and Woodbury restaurants are in the lead.
Pies & Pints in Middlebury and Woodbury's newest restaurant, Bilda Burger & More, are in the lead for best burger as of Thursday afternoon. Polls close at 9 a.m. Friday, May 18, and the winners are announced on Friday at noon. In its purest form, it's just a beef patty on a bun. But today's burgers are much more complex, with toppings that range from the classic lettuce, tomato, pickles, ketchup and mustard to items that include everything from bacon, mushrooms, jalapenos, avocado, chili or a fried egg. You can even get a burger made from turkey meat, bison or vegetables. When it comes down to it, you can put just about anything on a burger. And there are some great restaurants serving some incredible burgers right here in Middlebury and…

In this first of a series, the author examines the intersection of hyper-parenting and feminism. Where do we go from here?
In another shocking example of poor journalistic judgment, the current Time magazine cover of an attractive mother breastfeeding her three year old son stoked intense debate among mothers across the nation just in time for Mother’s Day. The cover, reading “Are you Mom enough?” invites the reader to learn about the unorthodox childcare advice administered by longtime parenting guru Dr. William Sears. Dr Sears, who recommends a technique called attachment parenting, advises a host of techniques designed to foster—he says—a safe and secure childrearing environment. The attachment parenting mother breastfeeds on demand until the child self-weans, sometimes not until kindergarten. The mother wears the young baby in a sling — nearly all day, …

With the start of summer upon us, this Greek wine is perfect for warmer weather.
Memorial Day weekend is coming up fast, also known as the unofficial start of summer. Bill Blore of Nutmeg Wine and Spirit Shoppe picked a warm weather warm to help Patch readers kick off the summer season: Gai'a 14-18h Rosé. The Gai'a website describes the wine and suggests some food pairings: A particularly attractive deep rosé color, a fruity aroma with strong hints of cherry and gooseberry, typical of Agiorgitiko, and light, refreshing flavours characterize the wine. Enjoy it with salt-baked foods, white meat, pizza without garlic and cold plates. It is particularly charming when combined with Chinese and Southeast Asian dishes. Food Pairings View past wine recommendations on our Wine of the Week Wednesday topic page. Got a recipe …
