The Split Rail is a quaint little eatery conveniently located on the heart of Woodbury's main drag. Serving lunch and breakfast daily, and "the best darn omelets in town," according to owner Russell Peterson, The Split Rail is a great place to go for good food at reasonable prices. The restaurant offers homemade soups that are made fresh daily, a wide variety of daily specials, and breakfast is served all day. There are booths, tables and a small counter.

This place gets my my personal award for best breakfast/lunch place in Woodbury, They may not have the longest menu around, but everything they do is first rate. I can't think of any other place whose corned beef and turkey sandwiches are made from fresh roasted, not processed deli meat. The result is great tasting meat and a superlative sandwich. Their homemade soups are brimming with fresh ingredients and flavor and come to the table in ample portions and steaming hot. For those who like their main meal in the middle of the day, they have a featured entree each day -- nothing fancy, but everything freshly prepared. And for lighter appetite, the feature a selection of salads and soup-and-half-sandwich selections. And for breakfast-at-anytime lovers like me, "The Rail" features well-stuffed omelets, as well as waffles, french toast and the lightest pancakes I've ever had. Seating is comfortable and the service is prompt and friendly. No wonder so many Woodbury folk make it their everyday lunch spot!
