Hands-On Science - How Cool Is That?!

Woodbury Parks and Recreation along with Velya Jancz-Urban, a former Connecticut high school English/History teacher and elementary Gifted/Enrichment teacher, present an afterschool science program for kids who like to have 'messy' fun.  By 'messy' we mean that kids will not be glued to their chairs doing worksheets. These are hands-on classes and children will be active participants in their learning, not passive observers.

This course offers inquiry-based, age-appropriate, involved educational science activities for children such as:

-Making Chicken Mummies and Mummification
-Gotta Brain? Getta Helmet! (Helmet Melon Drop)
-Earthquakes
-Human Bubble

The program is offered at Mitchell Elementary School for K-2nd grade on Monday and 3-5th grade on Tuesday.  It is also offered at Bethlehem Elementary School for K-2nd grade on Wednesday and 3-5th on Thursday.  The 2nd Fall session will begin the week of November 5th and will continue for 6 weeks.
