Kayaking 101: Starts This Saturday, June 9

Want to learn kayaking and which is the best kayak for you? This is a great program to become acclimated to this sport and find out which type of kayak works best for you!

Instructor:  David Faber from Connecticut Outdoors LLC

This program is for folks that do not currently own a kayak but want to learn about the sport of kayaking.  After the instructional part of the course, each participant will be outfitted with a live vest, paddle and kayak to apply the skills while paddling around the pond for approximately 2 hours.  Part II of the course will take place at the Bantam River, a slow moving river often called “Quiet Water” for an approximately 2 hour trip down the river!  Topics covered will be how to choose a kayak for what type of kayaking you would like to do. Choosing a proper keel, paddle sizing and stroke, life vests and basic paddling safety, invasive plants and species and protecting our paddling environment.
