Winter Weather Advisory, Flood Watch Issued for Litchfield County

The National Weather Service has issued a Winter Weather Advisory for Litchfield County for overnight Tuesday until 5 a.m. Wednesday morning.

Roads may become slippery due to freezing rain and mixed precipitation, with expected accumulation of up to 1 inch.

Ice and freezing rain is expected to change over to rain after daybreak Wednesday.

Litchfield and New Haven counties are also under a flood watch from midnight Tuesday through Wednesday afternoon, as heavy rainfall totals are anticipated. According to the NWS, small creeks and streams “may overflow their banks,” and wind gusts could be upwards of 30 mph.
