Halloween House Helps Families During the Holidays

It's getting to be a Halloween tradition. Middlebury resident Dan Hitt and his family go all out decorating their house for Halloween and the community goes all out, donating food to the Middlebury Food Bank.

Hitt, whose yard gets taken over by a giant spider with glowing red eyes and a mad scientist's lair, leaves out a box for people who want to drop off non-perishables.

In 2012, approximately 74 pounds of food was collected for the food bank. This year, Hitt said people donated 218 lbs. of food.

"Really happy with the turnout," he said via email. "Nearly three times last year."

He thanked everyone for coming to visit and for donating to the Middlebury Food Bank.
