Woodbury Earth Day 2013

Planning for Woodbury Earth Day 2013 is underway. Volunteers, Exhibitors and Vendors are now being sought.

So excited to be talking about Woodbury Earth Day 2013, which will be held on Saturday, April 27, 2013 at Hollow Park.  As many of you know, this event was started 19 years ago by John Pittari and staff at New Morning Market. Each year the celebration has grown in popularity and attendance. Now the Woodbury Business and Economic Development Committee is at the helm, with New Morning still very much involved.

Last year was the first year the event was held at Hollow Park, and I can tell you first hand it was amazing. Tons of visitors, great music, wonderful vendors.  My family had a really great time, and I am proud to be on the volunteer committee again this year.

A little background...there is a volunteer committee that meets several times each month to work on all of the intense planning that goes into producing such a popular event.  That committee is always looking for volunteers, so if you know anyone who might like to be involved in a fun and fast paced project like this, please have them email woodburyearthday@gmail.com and let us know.

We are also seeking vendors and exhibitors, and those interested are asked to visit www.woodburyearthday.org to download an application as soon as possible.

Finally, we are seeking volunteers for the day of the event, and those interested are also asked to visit www.woodburyearthday.org and click the volunteer tab for a detailed list of positions and an application/permission slip.

It's an exciting time to be a Woodbury resident, we hope you and your family will come out and support Woodbury Earth Day in one way or another.

Today's drug prohibition is getting violent criminals off the street - how many are in prison rightRead More now? Abuse of crack cocaine, heroin and the like have been proven to alter the brain chemistry, changing the user's personality, and frequently making them violent when they otherwise would not hurt a fly. These drugs are also used to benefit people who need them as prescribed by doctors. Tobacco has no such benefits. And skydiving? What does that have to do with tobacco? Does the skydiver harm other's health a month or more after he/she's been on the ground? No. Tobacco smoke does. It's called third hand smoke. Value? How can you compare art and entertainment with smoking? Anybody can attend an art gallery and not adversely affect anybody else. Any normal person can watch TV or play video games without committing suicide or harming anybody. Smoking hurts everybody and helps no one every time a smoker lights up. Drugs and alcohol, when used in moderation or under the direction of a doctor, can be helpful. Tobacco can not make the same claim.
