May is for Manners! Days 6 through 12...

The weekly installment of the "May is for Manners" initiative, from S.M.A.R.T., Inc. (Southbury-Middlebury Acting Responsibly Together)

Hello, Southbury and Middlebury!

"May is for Manners" is off to a great start, and this week we have a great variety of manners and courtesies to choose from!  Lucky us!  From weekend chores to phone etiquette to random (ok, well, secret) acts of kindness -- there are 7 big ways to do something small.  (Or maybe it's 7 small ways to do something big...)

And from small things, great things come.  S.M.A.R.T. believes you can make a difference in our collective world, in this community.  And it's easier than you may think.  You don't have to be a super hero or sacrifice all your time to volunteering. It's as easy as doing one small thing, every day.  "May is for Manners" has been filled with simple ways to create a positive connection between people -- something that's kinda missing these days, wouldn't you say?

I would love to hear about the outcomes or reactions you may get when you "do" your manners or gesture of the day.  I'm guessing your story will have a pleasant little surprise, as well as a happy ending.

For me, since it's May 6, I'll be helping my husband put a transmission back in his '46 Willys Jeep.  With a smile on my face...?!

So start with the small, easy steps in this week's "May is for Manners" calendar, and let's see what happens!
