Four PHS Cheerleaders Named to All State Squad
PHS cheerleaders join 16 other Class LL cheerleaders to round out squad.
Four Pomperaug High School Varsity Cheerleaders were selected to the 2011 Class LL All State Cheerleading team.
Senior Captain Kristin G., Junior Sydney T., Senior Captain Macie P. and Junior Amber D. joined 16 other Class LL cheerleaders for this distinction. They were selected from approximately 100 cheerleaders via an application and video tryout process.
This recognition rewards outstanding cheerleading technique, dedication to the sport of cheerleading and leadership skills. Kristin G. was also named to the CIAC All Academic State Cheerleading Team and was the recipient of the first CIAC Cheerleading Scholarship sponsored by Stadium Systems, Inc.
"Having members of the Panther Cheerleading team recognized in this manner not only acknowledges these individuals but the team as a whole," stated Coach Kathy Gatzendorfer.
"There are many outstanding cheerleaders in the Class LL schools and it is an honor for PHS Cheerleaders to be listed among them. Their teammates and I are very proud of them."
Recently, the cheerleaders were honored at the CIAC/CAS Cheerleading All State Dinner at the Aqua Turf.
