Region 15 Full Day Kindergarten Registration Now Open

Interested parents are asked to call their child's school to notify them that their student will be attending kindergarten in the fall.

Full day kindergarten will start in Middlebury and Southbury next fall, and parents and guardians of incoming kindergartners can start the registration process now by calling their child’s school.

The Region 15 Board of Education unanimously approved the proposal for full day kindergarten last month, saying the full day option facilitates the opportunity for larger blocks of time for reading and writing development, math instruction, learning centers, and inquiry-based, hands-on science and social studies activities.

“In a full-day program, teachers will be able to provide students more small group instruction tailored to the learning needs of the students,” the region said in a press release.

Children that are 5 years old on or before Jan. 1, 2014 are eligible. Interested parents are asked to call their child’s school to notify them that their student will be attending kindergarten in the fall.
