Region 14 Fills Long-Vacant Position

Director of Instruction responsible for leading the region's curriculum development.

Region 14 has not had a Director of Instruction for over five years. That changed this week when the Board of Education selected Susan Domanico to fill the vacant position.

The appointment was made following an extensive process, which included the evaluation by the District’s Leadership Team, a representative interview committee and Superintendent Jody Ian Goeler.

In the administrative role, newly appointed Domanico will lead the region’s curriculum development. She will work to implement and improve the curriculum and help teachers deliver it effectively to their students, according to Region 14 officials.

Domanico will take over the district leadership position in Region 14, leaving her previous post as Assistant Superintendent with Torrington Public Schools. While in Torrington, Domanico oversaw K-12 curriculum in all content areas, implemented the district’s assessment program and oversaw professional development.

Previous to her work in Torrington, Domanico was the Director of Elementary Education and the Director of Curriculum for K-12 with Granby Public Schools.

“Her extensive experience and success in areas related to improving instruction and supporting the needs of all children will provide Region 14 the opportunity to focus on and enhance these critical areas,” said a release from the region.

Domanico will assume her new role on August 7.
