Westover to Present Othello April 25 and 26

Middlebury, Connecticut - The Westover School Theater Department will offer its spring production of William Shakespeare’s Othello on Friday and Saturday, April 25 and 26, at 7:00 pm in Red Hall, located in the School’s main building.

Kate J. Truini of Roxbury directs this classic tale of human jealousy, manipulation, love, and doubt, that follows Othello, a Venetian army general, his beautiful young wife, Desdemona, and his trusted but treacherous ensign, Iago.

The cast includes Leah Nashel of Newtown and Vicky Graham of Baltimore, Maryland, who will share the role of Othello; Shauna Sullivan of Waterbury as Desdemona; Elizabeth Reed of Winchester as Iago; Addie Pates of Manchester by the Sea, Massachusetts, as Cassio; Amelia Bell of Salisbury as Roderigo; Britney Dumas of New Haven as Bianca; Lilly Diamond of Higganum as Brabantio; Emily Hazelton of Waterbury as Emilia; Nina Wernick of Coral Gables, Florida, as Montano; Sarah Cavallero of Middlebury as Lodovico; Sarah Navias of Aspen, Colorado, as Gratiano; Lindsay Cronin of Danbury as a senator; Joe Urbano of Cheshire as a gentleman; Christopher Sweeney of Middlebury as the Duke of Venice; Jo and Nate Dexter of Middlebury as Heralds; and Morgan Foss of Middlebury as a sailor.

Ian Diedrich of Waterbury leads the production team as Technical Director. The stage managers are Sarah Sokolowski of Orange and Rachael Shurberg of Morris. The scenic, costume, lighting, and sound design team includes Sandra Huang of Beijing, China; Rian Ishikawa of Osaka, Japan; Lauren-Nicole Laurenceau of New York City; Lai Penanhoat of Scituate, Massachusetts; Amy Tiong of Waterbury; Kira DeSimone of Woodbury; and Erika Malapad-Trentalange of Middlebury.

Parking is available on South Street, with admission through the main entrance to the School on the Middlebury Green. Call 203.577.4535 for reservations. The performance is free and open to the public, though donations will be accepted to support the School’s theater program.

Westover is a selective boarding and day school for girls in Middlebury with 205 students in grades 9-12 from 17 states and 20 countries. The school offers its students more than 20 Advanced Placement courses as well as signature programs in science, engineering, art history, and music.
