Westover Music Groups to Perform in Concert March 28th

  • Westover School music groups will perform a concert Friday, March 28th, beginning at 7:30 pm in the School’s Louise B. Dillingham Performing Arts Center. Admission to the concert, which will benefit student aid for a concert tour of England in March 2015, is $15 for adults and $5 for seniors and students; Westover students and children younger than 12 will be admitted for free.

Westover groups performing in the concert include the School’s Glee Club, Chamber Choir, two a cappella groups, two instrumental groups, three hand bell choirs, the Gospel Choir, and Westover students studying at the Manhattan School of Music Precollege Division. The Westover music directors are Bonnie Havery, Lucy Heidkamp, and Robert Havery.

This year’s concert also will feature a performance by a special guest choir, SingOut! CT, directed by Alecia Evans. SingOut! CT is a vocal ensemble for girls ages 8-16. Ms. Evans has worked as a choral director for over 25 years in San Francisco, New Orleans, New York City and Connecticut. She holds a master of music degree from San Francisco Conservatory and a bachelor’s degree in Music from the North Carolina School of the Arts.

The Westover concert program will feature choral music from around the world, including music from Africa, Austria, England, Israel, Japan, Russia, and Slovakia, as well as Americana sung by SingOut!

Reservations for the concert may be made by calling 203.577.4535. The snow date for the concert has been scheduled for Sunday, March 30th, at 3 pm.

Westover is a selective boarding and day school in Middlebury, Connecticut, with 205 students in grades 9-12 from 17 states and 20 countries. The School offers its students more than 20 Advanced Placement courses as well as signature programs in science, engineering, art history, and music.
