I would like to nominate Woodbury Diner, 125 Main Street North, Woodbury, as the best diner in the area. A little less than a fancy restaurant, a lot more than your average diner.

I second that nomination! Woodbury Diner, we just came from there...some had amazing French toast with local syrup, some had delicious fresh scrod with buttered bread crumb toppings...and they have an amazing Prime Rib dinner for $11.95! It's a great diner!

Good News Cafe! Don't hate it because it's out of your culture zone. ...I mean comfort.
Dexter DeVoe July 05, 2012 at 11:36 PM
No really. Have fun for a lot less. Move to Waterbury.
Chef Frank July 06, 2012 at 12:37 PM
Dexter - I wouldn't exactly consider the Good News Cafe a diner, no more than I would consider a Lamborghini Sesto Elemento basic transportation, the Mona Lisa, a doodle, or the Hope Diamond, a pretty stone.

Atlantis Diner in Naugatuck. I've been to many diners both in this area, other parts of Connecticut, and in other states. Atlantis gets it right; quality food, fast and friendly service, reasonable prices.

C Frank- I must have thought it said "dinner". Imagine my chagrin! I really like their deserts though.

Laurel Diner in Southbury is a true Diner and one of the best in the area. Excellent food and friendly staff.
Webster July 23, 2012 at 02:57 PM
Frankly, I dont understand how Laurel Diner or any of the other diners in the three town area are not included on this list. Doesn't really seem very reliable to premise results on the inclusion of merely TWO DINERS when there are several others that are being ignored on the vote. Not a very reliable poll whatsoever.

Hi Webster - the diners are not included because readers didn't nominate them during the nomination period.

The Woodbury Diner. Good food and friendly service. Haven't ordered anything that I didn't think was great. The kids love it, too. The added bonus: I don't have to drop a whole paycheck to take my family out to have a great meal!
