Woodbury Tries To Break Tie Thursday

Woodbury is holding its second municipal budget referendum Thursday.

Woodbury residents will be casting their ballots on the 2013-14 municipal budget again Thursday, having a second go after the 317-317 tie during the first referendum on May 30.

Woodbury’s polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. at the Senior Community Center.

The proposed $9.78 million budget represents a 3.37 percent increase in spending over 2012-13. The bulk of the $319,206 increase — $274,170 — is going to pay down debt service on bonded capital projects and will be covered by $300,000 taken from the current-year budget surplus of $589,000.

A state grant for $95,000 in additional revenue results in no increase to the mill rate under the proposed budget plan.
