Stomski Passes Up Seat on Board of Selectmen

Unsuccessful in his bid for re-election as First Selectman in November, Gerald Stomksi has turned down a seat on the Woodbury Board of Selectmen.

First Selectman Bill Butterly, who narrowly defeated Stomski, confirmed to Patch that Stomski submitted a letter to the Town Clerk's office stating his intent to vacate the seat. Butterly said Stomski did not appear at the swearing-in ceremony for newly elected officials on Sunday evening.

Stomski was not immediately available for comment.

He would have joined Martin Overton as a selectmen, along with Butterly. Per Town Charter, the vacant position must be filled by someone of the same political party as Stomski, a Republican, or someone who is endorsed by the Republican Town Committee. The person must be approved by the Board of Selectmen within 30 days.
