Read Stomski's Letter of Resignation as Woodbury Selectman

Gerald Stomski wishes the new Board of Selectmen "best of luck" in his letter of resignation.

In a letter dated Nov. 29, two days before Woodbury's Swearing In ceremony was set to take place, former Woodbury First Selectman Gerald Stomski offered his resignation.

Stomski said he would "not be accepting, nor be sworn into the Oath of Office for the position of Board of Selectman for the Town of Woodbury." He also said it was "a pleasure to serve the Town of Woodbury," and wished the new Board of Selectmen "best of luck in the future."

Stomski would have joined First Selectman Bill Butterly, who narrowly defeated Stomski for the seat in November, as well as Selectman Martin Overton to make up the three-member Board.

The vacant seat must now be filled by a Republican, or someone who is endorsed by the Republican Town Committee, within 30 days.

Stomski has not yet responded to requests for comment.

What do you think of the Stomski's decision?
