Middlebury Lawmakers to Meet With Residents

Office hours will take place from 6-7 p.m. on Monday at Shepardson.

Do you have questions about what is happening with state government? Do you want to know where your local legislators stand on a particular issue? If so, you have an opportunity to speak with them next week.

Middlebury’s constituency of lawmakers will meet from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, Feb. 11, at the Shepardson Community Center for “office hours.” During this time, they will meet with constituents and answer questions, share ideas, hear concerns, etc.

Those who will be attending include Rep. Tony D’Amelio, D-Waterbury; State Sen. Joan V. Hartley, D-Waterbury; and Sen. Rob Kane, R-Watertown. On top of hearing from residents, they will provide information about the last legislative session and the current session.

“It is critical to hear from constituents, particularly this year in view of ongoing budget concerns and the new legislative task force to address gun violence prevention and children's safety issues,” Hartley said.

D’Amelio said he hopes to have as many people as possible attend the event.

“This is a great opportunity for them to meet with us and share any concerns they have about state government,” he said.

For additional information about this planned session call Sen. Hartley at 800-842-1420, Rep. D’Amelio at 800-842-1422, or Sen. Kane at 800-842-1421.
