Malloy: CL&P Will Not Meet Its 99 Percent Goal

Governor Dannel P. Malloy released updated power restoration information requested from CL&P.

Governor Dannel P. Malloy said today -- Sunday, Nov. 6 -- that CL&P will not meet its self-identified goal of 99 percent power restoration in each city and town by midnight Sunday, Nov. 6, and released a document he asked CL&P for on Saturday, Nov. 5.

The document outlines updated town-by-town restoration times. This update will allow cities and towns across the state to more accurately plan for sheltering and warming centers, school schedules and give their residents more accurate restoration information.

Middlebury and Woodbury Power Restoration Projections

In Middlebury and Woodbury, CL&P is sticking to its 99 percent power restoration by 11:59 p.m. tonight - Sunday, Nov. 6.

One hundred percent restoration for Middlebury and Woodbury is projected for 11:59 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 8, according to CL&P.

"The closer we got to CL&P’s self-identified goal of 99 percent restoration in each city and town by midnight tonight, the more skeptical I became of their ability to meet that goal," said Malloy. "It’s now clear they are not going to meet their goal -- and I’ll have more to say about that at noon today [Sunday, Nov. 6]."

He said he released the information so municipalities can plan accordingly and residents can better make individual decisions on what to do during the coming days.

Today's drug prohibition is getting violent criminals off the street - how many are in prison rightRead More now? Abuse of crack cocaine, heroin and the like have been proven to alter the brain chemistry, changing the user's personality, and frequently making them violent when they otherwise would not hurt a fly. These drugs are also used to benefit people who need them as prescribed by doctors. Tobacco has no such benefits. And skydiving? What does that have to do with tobacco? Does the skydiver harm other's health a month or more after he/she's been on the ground? No. Tobacco smoke does. It's called third hand smoke. Value? How can you compare art and entertainment with smoking? Anybody can attend an art gallery and not adversely affect anybody else. Any normal person can watch TV or play video games without committing suicide or harming anybody. Smoking hurts everybody and helps no one every time a smoker lights up. Drugs and alcohol, when used in moderation or under the direction of a doctor, can be helpful. Tobacco can not make the same claim.
