Fresh Off the Primary, Murphy Goes on the Attack

The newly-minted Democratic nominee for Connecticut's open U.S. Senate seat has wasted no time in attacking his opponent.

And so it begins.

This election cycle promises to be a contentious one in the race for the open U.S. Senate seat as , began immediately campaigning against his Republican opponent, Linda McMahon.

According to the Connecticut Mirror, shortly after accepting the win in the primary on Tuesday night Murphy launched into a critique of McMahon, suggesting that as a multi-millionaire businesswoman she is out of touch with most of her would-be constituents.

"I've spent the last 10 years fighting for that out-of-work dad who's got to get back to work, for that hungry kid who just wants three meals a day, for that homeless veteran who wants a roof over his head," the Mirror quoted Murphy from his victory speech.

This is McMahon's second bid to win a seat in the Senate. She lost to Democrat Richard Blumenthal two years after a long, expensive and contentious campaign. The 2012 race with Murphy also promises to be highly charged and expensive.

Murphy, who was the endorsed Democratic Senate candidate, easily fended off a challenge from Susan Bysciewicz, the former secretary of the state, in Tuesday's primary. .

Today's drug prohibition is getting violent criminals off the street - how many are in prison rightRead More now? Abuse of crack cocaine, heroin and the like have been proven to alter the brain chemistry, changing the user's personality, and frequently making them violent when they otherwise would not hurt a fly. These drugs are also used to benefit people who need them as prescribed by doctors. Tobacco has no such benefits. And skydiving? What does that have to do with tobacco? Does the skydiver harm other's health a month or more after he/she's been on the ground? No. Tobacco smoke does. It's called third hand smoke. Value? How can you compare art and entertainment with smoking? Anybody can attend an art gallery and not adversely affect anybody else. Any normal person can watch TV or play video games without committing suicide or harming anybody. Smoking hurts everybody and helps no one every time a smoker lights up. Drugs and alcohol, when used in moderation or under the direction of a doctor, can be helpful. Tobacco can not make the same claim.
