Household Hazardous Waste Collection

Don't throw household chemicals out in the trash. Have them disposed of in a safe and responsible manner. Residential household hazardous waste will be collected from residents of Beacon Falls, Bethlehem, Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford, Southbury, Thomaston, Waterbury, Watertown, and Woodbury. The event is free. This service is provided by member municipalities and coordinated by the Council of Governments of the Central Naugatuck Valley.

Acceptable Items: Mercury and Mercury thermometers, Drain & Oven Cleaners, Upholstery Cleaners, Poisons, Insecticides, Oil- or Lead-Based Paints, Wood Cleaners, Aerosols, Strippers & Varnishes, Metal Polishers, Pool & Photo Chemicals, Automotive Cleaners & Fluids, Grease & Rust Solvents, and Fluorescent Bulbs.

Non-Acceptable Items: No Latex Paint, No Auto Batteries, No Motor Oil, No Radioactive or Medical Waste, No Asbestos, No Explosives, No Compressed Gas Cylinders, and No cement or joint compound.

Commercial and industrial waste will not be accepted, except through prior arrangement.
