Campaign Notebook: Murphy 'On the Defense About Job Creation'

Senate

Linda McMahon (R): Bridgeport Mayor Bill Finch cracked a joke that that Bridgeport will deliver votes for a Chris Murphy win, even if they’re a few days late. The reference to Bridgeport’s 2010 election woes didn’t go over well with the McMahon campaign, according to the Associated Press.

Chris Murphy (D): Candidates throughout the country know that this election is all about the economy. That’s part of the reason why Murphy is trying to take over the issues of jobs in light of Linda McMahon’s campaign.

According to the Stamford Advocate, Murphy is “on the defense about job creation,” but the candidate is working to change that.

Fifth District

Elizabeth Esty and Andrew Roraback will square off in their first debate on Tuesday, Oct. 16 at 7 p.m. in the Warner Theater in Torrington. The candidates will have three more debates after this one.

ELSEWHERE IN CONNECTICUT


Third District

Rosa DeLauro and Wayne Winsley have not yet had their first debate, but there was a candidate’s forum in New Haven on Sunday where they each addressed the crowd at different times. According to Winsley’s Facebook page, he was, “told that I can't enter the Candidate Forum until Rosa DeLauro has left the building.”

Fourth District

Jim Himes and Steve Obsitnik fielded questions about the economy, abortion and other issues at a forum in Westport, reports the Westport News. The candidates disagreed on the the issue of health care, but found common ground in supporting sanctions on Iran.
