Democrat Chris Murphy has proposed a debate against Republican opponent Linda McMahon about jobs. Job creation was a central point on McMahon's campaign, and she agreed to participate on Oct. 3 at the Garde Arts Center in New London. Both campaigns have fired off statements criticizing each other about the planning of proposed debates.

Republican Andrew Roraback was accused of being a Tea Party candidate, reports Danbury News-Times. Some people believe this suggests the Democratic party, with Elizabeth Esty as their fifth district candidate, are already on the defense.
