Telephone Pole Snaps In Half After Car Crash

Lucky - that's what Middlebury fire department personnel called the driver of the now damaged car.

 

A telephone pole snapped in half, with one end firmly resting underneath a car. The car's front end is crushed.

Despite these two serious-sounding situations, a woman escaped serious injury after a one-vehicle accident near 605 Southford Rd. in Middlebury tonight — Wednesday, August 15.

Deputy Fire Chief Dave Desmarais said the woman sustained non-life threatening injuries and was transported to Danbury Hospital. He declined to give her name or a cause to the accident, saying it was still under investigation by the .

The woman was southbound on Southford Road when her car ran off the roadway and struck a telephone pole, Desmarais said.
