Firefighters and police from Oxford are scouring the woods along the Connecticut State Bridle Trail in search of a 40-year-old man who was reported missing this morning.
The bridle trail runs through Middlebury, Naugatuck, Oxford and Southbury.
According to officials, Shawn Quimby was last seen yesterday morning at his home on Jacks Hill Road in Oxford. Police say the search of the trail was a first logical step as it's located behind the house. There are no signs of suspicious activity in the area, officials report.
Quimby was reported missing at 11:30 a.m. today, Aug. 23. A description or photograph has not yet been released.
A command post has been established at 178 Christian St. in Oxford, and the Oxford Fire Department currently has two John Deere gators searching the trail, along with people walking in the woods to find Quimby.
If anyone has any information about his whereabouts they are encouraged to call the state police barracks at 203-267-2200.
