Police Searching for Intruder Scared Off by Homeowner

The Middlebury homeowner reportedly confronted the alleged intruder, who then fled the scene in a dark blue pick-up truck.

 

Middlebury Police are seeking the public's help after officers were called to a burglary-in-progress near the 200 block area of Christian Road today, at approximately 11:20 a.m.

According to Acting Chief Richard Wildman, the suspect entered a residence through a unlocked door. The homeowner confronted the intruder, who reportedly ran from the house and got into a standard size dark blue pick up-truck with a ladder rack on it.

The alleged intruder fled from the scene toward Route 64, also known as Middlebury Road. This area is near the Woodbury and Southbury town lines, Wildman said.

Police are looking for a white male with tan skin, with a height of 5'10" to 6", Police describe the suspect as heavy set with black hair. He was reportedly wearing a dark colored Hoodie and had a white baseball cap on with sunglasses on the visor.

There was no physical altercation between the homeowner and alleged intruder, police said. Anyone with information may call the Middlebury Police at 203-577-4028.
