One-Car Accident Cuts Power Briefly in Middlebury

Middlebury Police and Fire Departments were dispatched to the scene of a car crashed into a utility pole on Christian Road, right at the Oxford Town Line Tuesday at around 5:40 p.m.

The vehicle, a 2012 Ford Escaped owned by Yankee Gas, was being operated by a Timothy Lentocha, 37, of Homestead Street, Manchester, veered off the right side of the southbound lane and struck the pole.

The pole was broken in several pieces and wires were down on the roadway. The pole also had a transformer on it, which did not break open, but two CL&P customers were without power briefly Tuesday night. The power company offered the residents generators while the electricity was out.

Lentocha was transported to Waterbury Hospital via Middlebury Fire Department Ambulance with non-life threatening injuries. Police are looking at a medical issue as a possible cause of the accident.
