Doors of Middlebury Businesses Unexpectedly Left Open & Reported Theft From Home

This round-up of Middlebury police news contains unexpected incidences and mailbox vandalism.

 

Mailboxes Down

On Thursday, July 26, Officer Fred Marcantonio of the investigated mailboxes knocked down on Steinmann Avenue. He said it appeared as though the side mirror of a car struck the mailboxes.

Shut the Front Door

On two separate occasions, police were called to two different Middlebury businesses after a delivery person found the door to the building unexpectedly open.

  • July 26: A newspaper delivery person reported that the front door of Mary I. Johnson was left open around 2:48 a.m.
  • July 27: The front door of Antari Therapy on Woodside Avenue was reportedly open at approximately 3:04 a.m. Police checked the building and said nothing appeared to be disturbed.

Electronics Reported Stolen

An Avalon Drive resident returned home and contacted police to report a break-in on Thursday, July 26. The resident said two laptops and a camera were reportedly stolen. Officer Ron Pruchnicki Jr. investigated.

Lost Car Keys

Chip Ford reported losing a set of Acura keys on Thursday, July 26, in the vicinity of Crest Road.

Motor Vehicle Stop Results in Arrest


James Murray, 44, of 333 North Hoadley St., Naugatuck, was arrested for driving under a suspended insurance plan after a motor vehicle stop at approximately 1:04 p.m. Tuesday, July 24, on Middlebury Road.

Neighbor Phones Police

On Tuesday, July 24, Raymond Polci of 1179 Christian Rd. contacted police after he pulled out of his driveway and said his neighbor, Renee Anderson, started yelling profanities at him. Lt. Richard Wildman investigated.

Tow Truck Needs a Tow

On Sunday, July 22, at approximately 11:11 a.m., a tow truck from Confidential Asset Recovery arrived at the Turnpike Office to take away a car that has been repossessed, when the tow truck reportedly broke down.
