Middlebury Police: Intoxicated Woman Hits Car, Mailboxes

A 30-year-old Middlebury woman was arrested Wednesday after she allegedly hit a car and smashed some mailboxes as she left the scene.

The woman, Conirose Fusco, was intoxicated at the time, police said.

The accident took place at the intersection of Regan Road and Route 64, at about 1:24 p.m. on Nov. 13. Fusco's 1982 Cadillac struck the rear bumper of a Connecticut Water Co. pickup truck, according to an incident report from Richard Wildman, Middlebury Acting Police Chief.

Fusco left the scene of the accident and drove erratically on Route 64 onto Memorial Drive up Kelly Road and then Three Mile Hill Road, where she struck several mailboxes, police said.

Middlebury Police caught up with her at Three Mile Hill Road and Park Road Ext. in Middlebury. Fusco failed field sobriety tests, police said, and she was transported to the Middlebury Police Department and processed for the charges of DUI and evading responsibility.

Fusco's bond was set at $1,000 and she is due in court on Nov. 21.
