Middlebury Police Commission Discusses School Security Measures

Enhancements to the existing security plan discussed by town officials.

Members of the Middlebury Police Commission, Middlebury Police Department and First Selectman Ed St. John met earlier today to discuss enhancing security measures in Middlebury schools.

The meeting was held in executive session and was closed to the public, but according to St. John the commission reviewed the region’s security plan and made enhancements to the original plan.

St. John refrained from going into detail on the specific changes or enhancements to the plan, saying the commission was in agreement to keep the discussions private for the time being.

The safety plan will be reviewed with Region 15 and Southbury officials at a later date. The police commission will meet next month to further discuss the security measures, according to St. John.
