Middlebury Man Arrested for Larceny and Attempted Fraud

The arrest stems from an investigation of a stolen wallet, taken out of a locker at Bailey's Total Fitness on Straits Turnpike in Middlebury.

At 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 28, Middlebury police arrested Carmine Moffo, 34, of 250 Old Watertown Rd., Middlebury, on the following charges.

  • Larceny in the fifth degree
  • Criminal attempt of a fraudulent use of an ATM (automated teller machine)

Middlebury police made the arrest via arrest warrant at Waterbury Superior Court, according to a police report from Lt. Richard A. Wildman.

The arrest stemmed from an investigation of a wallet that was stolen out of a locker at Bailey's Total Fitness, 930 Straits Turnpike, Middlebury.

Lt. Wildman stated that Moffo is a person of interest in other cases in Middlebury. He was already being held by the Department of Corrections on other offenses from recent arrests in Waterbury and was at court on Wednesday, Sept. 28.
