During the arraignment, McCurry started to share information with the judge, who advised him to speak with his public defender attorney, Wayne Jekot.

"I'm aware of what he wants to say," said Jekot. "I'm going to advise that he not say it."

In Labbe's file at the Waterbury Superior Court clerk's office, it was noted that Labbe was in need of medical and psychiatric attention, a matter that was also brought up during the arraignment.

Most of the arraignment was devoted to the suspects' past history with the law.
