Crack, Heroin Seized in Middlebury Drug Bust (Updated)

Middlebury Police arrested two men from Maine with alleged possession of crack cocaine and heroin near Yale Avenue Monday afternoon.

Around 1:30 p.m., police responded to a call from a concerned resident who reported suspicious activity and possible drug solicitation, according to the police report.

The suspects attempted to elude police, but were quickly found in a rented gray Chrysler sedan, three weeks overdue from an Enterprise Car Rental in Saco, Maine, police said.

With assistance from Connecticut State Police, who provided a narcotics sniffing dog, Garrett Labonte, 34, of Biddeford, Maine, and Christian Decker, 22, of Saco, Maine, were charged with possession of heroin and crack cocaine, as well as drug possession within 1500 feet of a school, since the arrest occurred near the Mary I. Johnson school.

Labonte and Decker are currently being held on $25,000 bonds, and will both be arraigned in Waterbury Superior Court Tuesday if no bond is posted.
