UPDATE: One of the Two 'January Center' Sex Offenders is in Custody

Two men, one 24 and the other 61, both convicted sex offenders are out of compliance with state law for not letting authorities know where they are

UPDATE: Antone Hoffler, 61, is now in custody.

Original Story:

Two Montville-based registered sex offenders are out-of-compliance with state law; neither has verified their addresses. In other words, their whereabouts are unknown.

Kenneth Harakaly, 24, was convicted in 2008 of risk of injury to a child for having intimate sexual contact with a child under 16. His last known address was at the January Center housed at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Center. Authorities have not heard from him since January of 2011.

Antone Hoffler, 61, also was last at the January Center. Authorities have not been able to confirm his address since August. Hoffler was convicted of rape in 1989 and spent five years in prison. But in 1998, he was again convicted of rape.

Update: Antone Hoffler, 61 is currently at Corrigan-Radowski for parole violations per the Department of Corrections website. This is of interest because Hoffler has been living at the January House aka sex offender facility since March 2012. Does this mean this treatment and rehabilitation is not working quite like the State of CT said it would? See: http://www.ctinmateinfo.state.ct.us

Thanks Donna. The registry needs to note that ASAP!

This is the assurance the state of connecticut department of corrections told us would not happen no matter what. We were given a signed agreement that said they would not be allowed to roam the streets and go unaccounted for. We were told they would be in a locked area with cameras and protection. Montville the state of Connecticut Department of Corrections lied to you and this is the proof. Ms. Tanner stated in a preelection interview that she trusted the state of ct and that they assure her this will not happen. Well it did and now what?????

Why is the public just being notified now? These are dangerous sex offenders who have been out on the loose unsupervised for several months! What happened to the safety and security the Town of Montville was promised??
