Do You Hear What I Hear? Christmas Music ... Before Thanksgiving? [POLL]

The holidays are creeping up on us faster than Rudolph in flight.

 

It's that time of year, when the world falls in love. Every song you hear, seems to say: Happy Halloween? Happy Thanksgiving?

The lyrics couldn't possibly end with "Merry Christmas" because this year, I saw holiday decorations near Halloween ones and just last week, I witnessed coffee shop employees decorating the windows with snowflake stickers while "Let it Snow" played in the background.

Every year I hear people say the holidays are pushed on consumers earlier and earlier. There is a theory I've heard that playing holiday music will get shoppers into the holiday spirit and subconsciously cause them to spend more time and money in a store.

Donna Dreska, owner of , said she thinks pulling out all the holiday stops earlier has the opposite effect. She said she sees people starting their holiday shopping later and later and that makes stress levels increase all-around.

The customer has less time to shop and shop owners have less time to provide the kind of customer service they like to provide, she said.
