Thanksgiving Day
Ways to spend Thanksgiving Day:
Go for a walk; watch an old movie with a happy ending; watch a football game; play a board game with your children and grandchildren; invite your neighbor over; enjoy your family; talk to your family; take a nap; listen to music; start a journal; look at old photographs; write a poem; call a friend you haven't seen in a long time; write a letter.
If you don't have any friends to be with: Go to an AA meeting; go to church; make a nice, simple meal; light a candle; and enjoy a peaceful time; serve meals at a shelter.
Keep a little light of hope burning inside you. Things will get better if they are not good right now. When someone is alone or ill during the holidays, they sometimes think they are all alone and that everyone else is happy and celebrating. You are not alone. Things will get better. You are not alone.
If you are very fortunate and have the joy of friends and family around you...don't go shopping. Spend time with those you love. And maybe reach out to someone who is lonely on this festive day, if you can.
Happy Thanksgiving.
