Parents of Teen Drivers

While visiting in Woodbury last week, I had a narrow escape from a head on collision on Bunker Hill Road.  As I headed up a hill, I was suddenly faced with two cars coming toward me, one of which was fully in my lane.  Two teen girls were in that car that was coming at me and they were looking at the car next to them. It all happened very quickly but I never saw the driver glance ahead and recognize she was headed for a collision. I had to make the decision to go off into the ditch.  Neither of the cars slowed down when I went off the road.  Fortunately, I was not injured and my car was not damaged, just covered with mud.  I was able to get out of the ditch after a few tries.  I don't know what the girls were doing, playing around or in a road rage situation, but I hope that my experience will give parents an opportunity to sit down with their children this week and use this letter as a conversation starter about the deadly machines that cars are capable of being.
