Board of Selectmen decision on appealing lawsuit.

So the Woodbury Board of Selectmen have decided not to appeal the Judge’s decision in the lawsuit against Region #14 over the illegal referendum. Martin Overton stated that “In the judges ruling, he was very clear that the intent was met, even if the letter of the law was not”. Wow, now we have judges who don’t uphold the letter of the law! We pass laws in this country for a reason. They are supposed to be obeyed. But with Martin Overton’s history as Chairman of the Zoning commission, I would not expect him to uphold the letter of the law. He withheld legal opinions from the commission, attempted to get another commissioner arrested because he wasn’t afraid to speak up and point out how Overton was dictating what happened at meetings to push his own agenda, and his total disregard for the Connecticut and U.S. Constitutions. Is it any wonder that at the first Zoning meeting after he left, the political sign issue that had raged on for over three years was resolved.
New Selectwoman Michelle Ecsedy stated that the town should move forward with the project because the vote on the project passed “overwhelmingly” anyway. The vote was 1269 to 1265 in favor. If that is overwhelmingly, I’m sure glad it wasn’t close! Looks like she’ll fit right in with the current administration.
We have a Board of Education, a Board of Selectman, and a Judge that totally disregards the rule of law. What a wonderful example that is setting for the children of Region #14. Just disregard the law and maybe you can get away with it, and people wonder why we have the problems we have in the country today!
