Obituary: Ronald Pruchnicki Dies at 70

Former Naugatuck police detective and former owner of Anthony's Pizza in Waterbury.

 

Ronald W. Pruchnicki, Sr., age 70, passed away unexpectedly at his home on Friday May 4, 2012.

Pruchnicki was born in Waterbury on October 3, 1941, son of the late Theophile and Dorothy M. (Kraus) Pruchnicki. He resided in Naugatuck for most of his life and he graduated from Naugatuck High School.

Pruchnicki moved to Middlebury five years ago. He had retired from the Naugatuck Police Department, being the only permanent detective in town at that time. He was the owner of Corey’s Market in Naugatuck for many years. He also owned and operated Anthony’s Pizza in Waterbury, which moved to Oakville, where it still remains and is being operated by his family.

He leaves his son Ronald W. Pruchnicki, Jr. of Naugatuck; his daughter Carrie
Lombardo of Waterbury; a sister Shirleyan McHale and her husband Thomas of Old Lyme; three grandchildren, Nicolette Lombardo, Joseph and Michael Pruchnicki; one niece Maribeth McHale and one nephew John McHale.

Calling Hours: 9 to 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home, 240 North Main St., Naugatuck.

Funeral: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at Naugatuck Valley Memorial/Fitzgerald Zembruski Funeral Home.

Mass: 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 9, at St. Mary’s Church, 338 North Main St., Naugatuck.

Burial: Following in St. James Cemetery, Cross Street, Naugatuck.
