He graduated from Lodi High School and received bachelor's and master's degrees from New York University.

He retired in 1985 after 30 years of service. Thereafter, he worked as a consultant in the chemical industry and as a real estate broker. He supervised the building of both his sons' homes as general contractor and also helped out at his son’s pharmacy, making deliveries and compounding.

Cangelosi enjoyed bowling, reading Stephen King novels, researching health issues on the Internet and caring for many family dogs throughout the years.

He could be depended on at a moment's notice to do whatever was asked of him: Bring kids to the dentist, pick up a pizza or make an IGA run. He was an on-call babysitter for his grandchildren and loyally attended their football games, cheerleading competitions, band concerts, Boy Scout ceremonies and birthday parties.

Cangelosi was persistent, stubborn and loved a good argument. He was an active member of the Uniroyal retiree’s group and attended mass every Sunday.

He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, M. Theresa (Signorile) Cangelosi of Waterbury, two sons and their wives, Frank Cangelosi and Lisa Cesare of Southbury, James Cangelosi and Diane, also of Southbury, and four grandchildren: James (Danielle), Erica, Sandra and Stephen Phillip Cangelosi.

He is also survived by an aunt, Victoria Zingarelli of Tamarac, Fla., his former daughter-in-law, Joy E. Cangelosi of Middlebury, and many cousins, nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was predeceased by his beloved black lab Kody.
