Obituary: Leslie Hatstat Sr., 93

Leslie Hatstat, Sr., 93, of 25 Hilldale Drive, died peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, Jan. 11, 2014. He was the husband of Elizabeth (Jameson) Hatstat, his wife of 72 years.

He was born July 19, 1920 in Woodstock, CT, son of Chester and Ella (Emisch) Hatstat. He spent most of his life living in and making his home in Southbury and attended Southbury schools. He was a self-taught carpenter, ending his working career at age 75 as the Building Superintendent of BTI Industries of Prospect, CT.

After retirement, he and his wife Betty enjoyed traveling, visiting all 50 states and spending time with family and friends. He was a decorated veteran of WW II, serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps in the pacific theater of the war until its end. He was a life member of the George Newton Post 1607 of the VFW in Southbury.

Besides his wife, he is survived by his sister Ruth Semrow of Naugatuck; sons Leslie Jr, and his wife Nancy of Woodbury, Gary and his wife Joan of Danbury and 4 grandchildren, Jason and his wife Laura of Woodbury, Kenneth of Woodbury, Daniel and his wife Diessy of Danbury and Gary of Canaan and 2 great grandchildren. He was pre-deceased by his brothers, Carl Kenneth and Donald and sisters, Betty, Marion and Dorothy.

Graveside services will be held in the spring. There are no calling hours.
