Obituary: Lawrence “Larry” Feola, 92, of Waterbury

Feola had family in Bethlehem.

 

Lawrence “Larry” Feola, 92, of 299 Courtland Avenue, Waterbury, died Saturday September 1, 2012, at St. Mary’s Hospital in the presence of his loving family. He was the husband of Rita (Barbiere) Feola.

Feola was born in Waterbury on October 8, 1919, son of the late Daniel and Stella (Gigandelli) Feola. He served his country during World War II in the Asiatic Pacific Theater campaign. He received multiple decorations for his service and was honorably discharged in January 1946. Following in his father footsteps he worked as a self-employed painter and wallpaper artist for over 60 years.

Other awards received include 50 years of loyal service to the Catholic Church with a special award given by Archbishop Henry Mansell at St. Joseph’s Cathedral in Hartford.

Feola received an award for faithful service to the Wheeler Young VFW Post 201 on June 17, 2006. He was a member of the Unico Club and volunteered at many of their events.

Besides his wife of 65 years, he is survived by his daughter Lorraine Lozito of Waterbury, his son, Lawrence Feola and his wife Nancy of Bethlehem, his three grandchildren, Lawrence and Nicole Feola, and Jeffrey Lozito, his five great grandchildren, Madison, Lena, and Lily Feola and Christian and Jessica Lozito, his two brothers, Michael Feola of Wolcott and Joseph Feola of Harwinton, his four sisters, Phyllis Bacco of Watertown, Mary Izzi and Stella Gugliotti and her husband Al all of Waterbury, and Alice Matthews of Prospect, and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Charles C. Feola and Fred H. Feola.

Calling Hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 5, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.

Funeral: 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, then to the Basilica of the Immaculate Conception for a 10:00 mass.
