Obituary: Joseph Tripodi, 78 of Waterbury

Joseph Tripodi loved cooking, gardening, fishing, sports and spending time with his grandchildren.

 

Joseph Tripodi, 78 of Waterbury, died at Waterbury Hospital on Monday, April 23, 2012, surrounded by his loving family. He was the widower of Ida C. (Sapone) Tripodi.

Tripodi was born in Trunca, Reggio Calabria, Italy on December 3, 1933, son of the late Francesco and Fortunata (Sapone) Tripodi. He came to the United States in 1960 and worked for Century Brass for 30 years, retiring in 1998.

He loved cooking, gardening, fishing, and sports, but most of all he loved spending time with his grandchildren. In 2008, he enjoyed a special trip to Italy with his children and grandsons to visit his birthplace. He was a communicant of SS. Peter & Paul Church.

Tripodi is survived by a son, Frank Tripodi and his wife Cathy of Wolcott; a daughter, Lucy Devino and her husband Frank of Middlebury; a brother, Stefano; and two sisters, Teresa and Nicolina, all of Italy; four grandchildren, Paul and Lea Tripodi, and Nicholas and Olivia Devino; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his daughter, Nancy Tripodi.

Calling Hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.

Funeral: 8 a.m. Thursday, April 26, from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home to SS. Peter & Paul Church for a 9 a.m. mass.

Burial: Following at Calvary Cemetery.
