Obituary: Jennie Vellucci, 88, of Waterbury

Jennie (Santopietro) Vellucci had family in Woodbury.

 

Jennie (Santopietro) Vellucci, 88, of 2221 East Main St., Waterbury, formerly a long time resident of Simons Avenue, died Friday September 7, 2012, at Highland Health Care in Cheshire, in the presence of her loving family.

Vellucci was born in Waterbury on May 16, 1924, daughter of the late Antonio and Nicolina (Mattei) Santopietro. She worked at Colonial Bank and Bank of Boston for many years retiring in 1986. She was a life long communicant of Our Lady of Lourdes Church.

Vellucci was an avid UConn Husky fan and loved to bake. She cherished spending precious times with her grandchildren and great grandchildren especially baking cookies.

She leaves two daughters, Diane DiPietro and her husband Michael of Prospect, and Sandra Kusinski and her husband Gerard of Southington, a sister, Gloria Gallo of Woodbury, two granddaughters, Dawn Collette and her husband Matthew of Roxbury and Kimberly Kelleher and her husband James of Litchfield, six great grandchildren, Jacob, Zachary, Autumn, and Hailie Collette and James and Michael Kelleher, and several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by four brothers, James, Larry, Michael and Franklin Santopietro and three sisters, Josephine Sarro, Margaret Angelino, and Julia DeRosa.

The family would like to express sincere gratitude to the staff at Highland Health Care for the excellent care and compassion given to Vellucci during her stay.

Calling Hours: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, Waterbury.

Funeral: 9 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home to Our Lady of Lourdes Church for a 10 a.m. mass.
