Edward Poudrier Jr., 80, of Waterbury, died on Monday April 30, 2012, at Vitas Innovative Hospice Care at St. Mary’s Hospital. He was the husband of Noella (Guertin) Poudrier.
Poudrier was born in Waterbury on May 25, 1931, son of the late Edward Sr. and Mary (Quinn) Poudrier. He was a lifelong resident of Waterbury and a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving as sergeant during the Korean War.
He was employed by Connecticut Light and Power for 34 years. In his post retirement, he was involved as a social coordinator for A.R.E.N.U., organizing international trips for retired employees of Northeast Utilities for 14 years. He was a volunteer at St. Mary’s Hospital and was an active parishioner at Blessed Sacrament Church, serving in varying capacities to provide community service and support. Poudrier was an avid Mets fan, as well as a collector of baseball memorabilia.
Besides his beloved wife Noella, he leaves a brother, Richard Poudrier and his wife Judy of Harwinton, and several nieces and nephews. Poudrier was predeceased by a brother, Robert Poudrier.
Calling Hours: 9 to 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, at Chase Parkway Funeral Home.
Arrangements: A funeral celebration of his life with cremains present will take place at 10 a.m. Friday, May 4, from Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, 430 Chase Parkway, to Blessed Sacrament Church for a 10:30 a.m. mass.
A committal service with full military honors will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
