Obituary: Anne (D'Angelo) Thomas, 89, of Waterbury

Anne D. (D’Angelo) Thomas, 89, of Waterbury, died Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2012, at the Vitas unit at St. Mary’s Hospital. She was the wife of Thomas A. Thomas.

Thomas was born in Waterbury on October 29, 1922, daughter of the late Anthony and Antoinette (Vendetti) D’Angelo. She and her husband were the proprietors of the Middlebury Store for many years until they retired.

Thomas was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was a communicant of St. Francis Xavier Church.

Besides her husband of 64 years, she leaves a son, Joseph A. Thomas and his wife Joan of Waterbury; a daughter, Kathleen DeLuca and her husband Amato of East Greenwich, R.I.; a brother, Anthony D’Angelo and his wife Connie of Middlebury; a sister, Julie DelGobbo of Waterbury; four grandchildren, Brian Thomas, Jennifer Zavislak, Melissa DeLuca and Heather DeLuca; four great grandchildren, Ashley, Kaylee, Benjamin and Connor; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sisters: Connie Sforza, Marie Ciochetti, Josephine Rossi and Clara Mazzalupo.

The family would like to thank the nurses and staff at the Vitas Hospice unit at St. Mary’s Hospital for the care and compassion shown to Thomas and her family during her illness.

Calling Hours: 5  to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home.

Funeral: 9 a.m. Friday, Feb. 10, at Chase Parkway Memorial/The Albini Family Funeral Home, to St. Francis Xavier Church for a  10 a.m. mass.

Burial: Following the mass, at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Watertown.
